Goalkeeper drills

Modern goalkeeping is a distinct sport played inside football. Set position and handling still decide most saves, but distribution under pressure, starting position and dealing with the ball at your feet now decide whether you get picked at all.

These sessions cover handling, footwork and set position, shot stopping across angles, dealing with crosses, and playing out. Many work with one server and a ball; each drill lists what it needs.

Common questions

Can goalkeepers train alone?
A lot of it, yes. Footwork ladders, set-position work, wall handling and distribution targets all work solo. Shot stopping and crosses need a server.
How important is distribution for a young goalkeeper?
Very. In the mid-teens and beyond it is often the difference between two similar keepers. Train both feet, short and long, under a two-touch limit so the pressure is realistic.
