U16 football drills
At U16 level, position-specific detail and physical output start to decide selection. Sessions should look like the game: high intensity, real decisions, and technique held together under fatigue. KICKPATH accounts are for players aged 16 and over; coaches, parents and guardians are welcome to use these sessions with the players they support.
Add proper speed and power work, take recovery seriously, and start measuring — sprint times, jump height, session load. Benchmarks make progress visible in a year where a lot of players plateau by accident.

Common questions
- What do academies look for at U16?
- Speed, decision-making under pressure, technical security on both feet, and consistency across a season. Physical numbers open the door; the football keeps you in the room.
- How much should a 16-year-old train each week?
- Team sessions plus two individual technical blocks and two speed or strength sessions is a full week. Total load matters more than any single session — plan a lighter week every fourth.
